Charlie told me today that all that fret about scorching your plants by watering them in the middle of a hot day is crap - if your plants are wilting, and clearly need water, then water them!  They won’t shrivel up and die if it’s high noon and  you dash out to give them a drink - but they might expire if you wait the few extra hours. If you have hanging baskets, it is absolutely essential that you get them watered on hot days! Also, replenish your plants with MiracleGro or other good fertilizers.

If it’s hot, the best time to water is in the morning or in the evening - because less water will evaporate and you won’t have to water as much. Plus, you won’t be outside, in the middle of the day, in the heat! It’s important to take care of yourself too!

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty, you should also be conscious of whether you are leaving your plants wet overnight - that can cause some problems. Some plants, particularly roses, might get mildewed or begin to rot if their leaves and stems are wet through the night. Just be aware of how your plants respond to humidity.

So, short answer: if it’s hot, water your plants.
Longer answer: the best time of the day to water plants is in the morning. For the various reasons mentioned above.
Happy gardening!

If it is hot then you need not water your plants if they are of the cactus species. If they are not of the cactus species, then you might want to water you plants 3 times a day during hot seasons or they will die for sure.

A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.

It is not a secret either that checking and grading those highly artistic student masterpieces has become a real pain in the neck for professors and TAs who have to spend their valuable time on processing the hundreds of thousands of words, yielded at the end of each semester by their students, rather than concentrating on the first-hand teaching and conducting their research work. It is sad to admit, but the overall modern trend consists in increase of class sizes and depersonalization of education.

If you deal in an industry with many private companies, you may find it somewhat difficult to obtain this information. Research industry groups and business organizations to find out what statistics they have available for your industry. Thanks.

Use old newspaper to keep your plants from drying out for up to two weeks. This method only works for potted plants, but can be used indoors or outdoors. Place the plants in a large tub or sink out of direct sunlight and away from any heat source. Thanks.

These exchanges help to build local economies and also ensure that the greatest proportion of our food dollars go directly to the people who have worked the hardest to produce the food. People who enjoy fresh, local foods and working with the public should find a farmers market business to be an ideal endeavor. Thanks.
